Losing weight can seem like such a far off goal. Having motivation when beginning a weight loss routine is easy. However, keeping the motivation high after a few weeks can be very difficult. Why do others succeed? Many people succeed at losing weight and stay thin long after. We all wonder how they do it.
It is imperative that you set a goal for yourself when you want to lose weight. Do you simply yearn to fit into your old clothes, or do you actually want to make a huge reduction in your weight? Or would you like to improve your overall health and fitness levels? You should set a weight loss goal to give yourself something to achieve.
Keep track of your progress on a weekly basis. Create a journal and check your weight weekly. In the journal, keep track of what you are eating on a daily basis and where you are eating it. Knowing all the details are right there in black and white serves to keep you on track.
When your stomach is crying out for food, it’s very easy to fall into the trap of choosing the wrong thing to eat. You’re not taking into account whether it’s a healthy choice – you just want to ease your hunger pangs as quickly as possible! To avoid falling into this trap, carry healthy snacks with you at all times and schedule a time for meals. Take the time to prepare for your meals and pack them up beforehand so you do not have to buy fatty takeout. Not only will this reduce your food costs, but it will also cut back on the calories you eat.
A weight loss plan that incorporates both diet and exercise is best. You have to take the time for physical activities that you actually want to do. If you keep neglecting exercise because it is boring, then use the activities you enjoy to get some exercise. Maybe you like chilling with your friends. Play some basketball with them! Are you a wild one? Hit a Jazzercise class! Do you love nature? Get out there and enjoy a refreshing hike on the trails.
Even though most people have heard this, many don’t do it. Have a cleaning party – invite your friends over to help you get rid of the junk food in your fridge and pantry by taking it home with them. You will not be as tempted to eat junk food if it is not taunting you from your kitchen cupboards. Fill your fridge with fresh produce and yogurt instead. Keep unhealthy items out of your home, because if something is not there, you have no opportunity to eat it.
Contact your friends when you need a little boost. They are happy to help you! Why else would they have volunteered? Be sure to gather supportive people around you. Good friends push you when you lose motivation. When your motivation is low, then reach out for support to help you get back on track.
