Meeting your weight loss goal may seem like a distant dream. It is easy to start off feeling all charged up, but as more time progresses, it is often difficult for us to find any motivation to continue. Why isn’t that something that happens to everybody? Some people manage to lose weight and keep it off. We all wonder how they do it.
The first step you should take when trying to lose weight is setting a goal for yourself. It does not matter what your desired end result is, whether it be one size or 50 pounds. Having a specific goal will increase your odds for success.
Each week, you should chart your progress, so you know if you are improving. Keep a regular journal that has records of your weight, preferably measured by the week. Use the journal to list the foods you eat everyday in a food log. Writing down what you are eating will help you remember to make healthier choices.
When making decisions about what to eat, do not do it when you are starving. Planning your meals in advance and keeping healthy snacks on hand will help you avoid reaching for unhealthy foods. Pack a healthy lunch and brown-bag it instead of eating out to both save money and enjoy a more nutritious meal.
Being able to balance healthy eating and exercise is the key to permanent weight loss. You must exercise a minimum of three days each week, but more is even better! If this has been where you have failed in the past, plan instead to incorporate exercise into things you already enjoy. Try to get your friends involved by asking them to walk with you. Short hikes on a nature trail or even just a walk through the neighborhood park can satisfy your thirst for the great outdoors and get you some exercise! If you love to dance, why not give a dance class a whirl and practice some new steps.
Ditch the junk food if you want to avoid it. You can do this by not buying it or not having it in your presence. When everything in your kitchen is healthy, chances are you will gravitate toward those items.
Be certain to tell your friends and family about your plans to lose weight. Your friends can provide you with the inspiration you need to attain your weight loss goal. Be sure to take time with your supporters to prevent running out of motivation. Their encouragement can help you stay motivated.
